The gender of a baby is of utmost importance to some couples. These couples constantly try to find a suitable baby gender selection method. This urge is constantly increasing day by day. People from different races and religions all around the world are visiting medical practitioners in the hope of getting a chance to select their unborn baby's gender. Now the question is, what triggers this urge. The urge of choosing an unborn baby's gender is based on factors such as:

* Family planning: In the last two decades, family planning has become the key to a good and successful family life. The concept of family planning promotes a balanced family with both a male and a female offspring. Gender selection actually takes care of the parents' desire of having a baby boy or girl. This is because sometimes a family has a boy and now they want a girl or vice versa. This will fill in the space of an offspring of the opposite sex in the family Therefore, such couples try to select their baby's gender in order to get a balanced family.

* Medical history: Some families' decision of selecting a baby's gender is entirely based on the family's medical history. Actually, some families suffer from a hereditary disease which passes from one generation to another. For example, if a family has an ongoing problem of liver cancer in the females of the family, they'll prefer to go for a baby boy over a baby girl. Baby gender selection methods are their only hope to propagate their family without the disease.

* Gender Bias: The major factor that makes a couple opt for baby gender selection methods is their biased thinking. The bias is more against girls. Some societies in this modern world still prefer having a boy over a girl because they think of girls as the weaker sex. Another factor behind this biasness is the mentality that a girl does not carry a family's name. Therefore, she is of no use to the family. Such couples prefer a boy over a girl child. The worst thought is that girls cannot earn and need to be always provided for so they are of no use. This has been proven wrong by millions of girls all over the world. Still some of these factors continue to drive the urge in couples for selecting their unborn baby's gender.

Whatever may be the reason, the fact remains that deciding a baby's gender is the work of nature and not of human beings.
